Friends In Deed
A Friendship Partner Program
 for International Students
at George Mason University
About Friends In Deed What is the Friendship Partner Program?

The Friendship Partner Program matches an international student to an American single adult or family for the academic year.  Your American Friendship Partner will invite you to join them for a meal in their home or to some other family activity once a month and maintain contact with you in between visits by phone or e-mail.  Additionally, you may call your Friendship Partner when special needs arise and they can help to connect you with local resources.

Why do international  students  like to have  an American Friendship Partner?

A Friendship Partner provides an opportunity outside of the University setting to practice conversational English, better understand American life and culture, and become acquainted with community resources.  In exchange, international students have the opportunity to share their culture with their American friend.

How much does it cost to participate in Friends In Deed Programs?

Generally, there is no cost to participate in Friends In Deed Programs.  If fees to FID events are expected (such as for museum tickets or for the cost of food to be served), such costs will be estimated and advertised in advance of the activities.

Can I participate with Friends In Deed if I don't have a car?

Free transportation to and from FID events is provided upon request from the George Mason University Cue Bus Stop.
